Introduction Remix: Another "Hello"

I like banana popsicles (only the natural kind), roller coasters that don't go upside-down, and swimming at dusk if there aren't too many mosquitoes.

I am afraid of bears, snakes and huge fish.

One of my most memorable experiences from last summer was catching fireflies with my niece, Ari, on 4th of July and then letting them go to make our light show in the sky.

I'm a worrier. I get that from my grandmother and mother, I guess.

For six years of my life, I didn't own a television. I now do and I am currently watching the show "So you think you can dance?"...I'm so envious of people who are that skilled in using their bodies in performative ways!

I just planted a hydrangea bush last week and I found out that the color of the flowers are determined by the acidity of the soil. Acidic soil turns the flowers blue and basic soil turns them pink (ours are turning blue...exactly what I had hoped)! I love knowing things like this...

I love designing, arranging and, when I get the chance, making things.

Although I wouldn't consider myself tech-savvy, I love to make things digitally, because I believe knowing how is very important and allows us to participate in the world in new ways.

I was born in October and, although I love summer, autumn is actually my favorite season.

Next, I'd like to travel to Costa Rica, Kenya or Spain. But I'd get on a plane to Paris tomorrow if I could!

I grew up in Janesville, WI and went to college in Chicago.

I've had periods in my life when I've considered the following occupations: ballerina (age 5--thank goodness I didn't pursue this one!); physicist (age 10); attorney (age 11); french teacher (age 12); psychology and international business (age 15); french teacher (age 19); sociologist (age 19-21); linguist (age 22-24); writing and english teacher who wants to be around people who want to make things and perhaps own or work at a small specialty shop someday (now).

I attended my first professional baseball game this spring despite the fact that I lived three blocks from Wrigley Field for two years.

I am your writing instructor this summer, and my name is Jennifer (which means "fair one" or "white wave") Lyn (which was derived from my grandmother's name "MariLYN") Kontny (which is derived from a Polish word meaning corner).
